In Ghaziabad, a 35-year-old man was taken into custody on Sunday for allegedly causing the death of a 70-year-old woman during a dispute with her son in Madhuban Bapudham. Authorities reported that the woman, identified as Ramvati Devi, was killed when she intervened to shield her son, Bijendra Kumar, from the accused, Majid, who is their neighbor. The altercation escalated, leading Majid to push Ramvati, resulting in her fatal injuries. ACP Abhishek Srivastava disclosed that the incident occurred in the LIG flats under the Kanshiram Avas Yojna, where Bijendra resided with his brother and mother. The commotion unfolded around 12:30 am when Majid, an e-rickshaw driver allegedly intoxicated, was confronted by Bijendra for loitering outside their residence. Following the confrontation, Ramvati tried to diffuse the situation but was pushed by Majid, causing her to sustain severe injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. An FIR has been lodged against Majid under relevant sections of the law, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder and assault, with the accused remanded to judicial custody after appearing in court.
